The establishment of a cooperation network project will promote research and partnerships in the field of security and defense.

The aim of the project "Latvian Security and Defence Industries Cooperation Network" (hereinafter referred to as the Cooperation Network) is to provide funding for increasing the volume of international cooperation, research, and development investments of Latvian security and defence industries, educational and research institutions in line with the priorities set at the national, European Union, and North Atlantic Treaty Organization levels for internal and external security.

Within the framework of the DAIF Latvia European Union fund project No. 5.1.1.2.i.0/3/24/A/CFLA/008 "Establishment of the Latvian Security and Defence Industries Cooperation Network," 32 companies and 6 higher education institutions have joined.

The activities planned within the project will be implemented in line with the defined 5 directions:

Export, internationalization, and international cooperation
Searching for and establishing new international business contacts (exhibitions, visits to target markets), developing strategies related to scaling new products and services, participation in international industry days);
Promotion of research and development
(Searching for and establishing new international contacts between businesses and researchers, experience exchange and knowledge transfer events, preparation of international project applications, consultations on participation and preparation of applications for innovation and development programs, coordination of consortium formation);
Human capital development and promotion of cooperation
(Visits by representatives of international organizations to Latvian companies and research institutions, visits to foreign partners related to scaling new products or services, participation in international networking platforms and organizations, industry awards for young scientists and students);
Building the international image of the Cooperation Network and its members
(Ensuring visibility at networking events and international exhibitions, marketing and awareness activities, industry days in Latvia, the EU, and NATO);
Ensuring and improving the operation of the Cooperation Network
(Ensuring publicity events and daily information exchange and communication activities).

The total budget of the project is 514,508.30 euros, 85% of which is covered by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility. The cooperation project aligns with the core idea of the Smart Specialization Strategy, which is to concentrate limited national resources on increasing innovation capacity in knowledge areas where the economy has the greatest growth potential. As a result of the project's implementation, the prerequisites for the successful work of the Cooperation Network members and their engagement in local and external target markets will be created. By fostering partnerships within the framework of international innovation and development projects, the export volumes and private research and development investments of the Cooperation Network members will be increased.
